Lately, I keep seeing the exact same type of post everywhere.
“Spotify is finished.”, “Cancelled my subscription.”, “Switched to Apple Music.”, “Spotify doesn’t care about artists.”
And normally I ignore this kind of internet outrage because most of it disappears in a week.
But this one feels different.
At the same time all this backlash is happening, Spotify suddenly announces long requested features like better audio quality for free users and improved discovery tools. Daniel Ek stepping down also doesn’t feel random timing wise.
Companies usually don’t rush to fix problems unless people are actually leaving.
And honestly, I think a lot of Spotify’s current problems were built into the platform from the beginning.
